Taking you on an inside peak into my kitchen, my makeup bag, my TV watch-list, and beyond…I bring you the revamped (formerly “Stuff I’m Obsessed With”), My Monthly Product Placement. (Here is last month’s in case you missed it!)
If you know me (or if you follow my IG stories) you know what I look like without makeup on. I literally have the tiniest eyebrows. So I have tried pretty much every single eye pencil out there…at Rite Aid. But branching out and buying this one from Benefit has changed my makeup routine, honestly its so easy to use and wayyyy less clean up around the brows.
*Hot Tip: I just had the amazing Girl Get Glamorous (Molly Gardner) record a future podcast and she told me to start filling in my brows at the arch instead of starting on the inner corner, and it has helped a LOT! Stay tuned for her episode!*
I have never been a big sugar person, I know I know, don’t hate me. And being a working actor with a more fit requirement, I’ve never been much for candy. But I am a big fan of dark chocolate. And the Montezuma chocolate bar from TJ’s (also on Amazon) is as dark as they come. I don’t think everyone can handle this, it’s intense. But the flavor is so rich that you honestly don’t want to eat that much of it! And this concentration of cocoa is really good for you. And if it’s too much for you, a few chunks in a smoothie or with some almond butter and honey is also a fan-freaking-tastic treat.
I can’t wait to air her podcast later on this season, but in the meantime Lisa Kara (Zinc Nutrition) released her E-Book and it’s soooo good you guys. The way she looks at food, health, life, and fad diets in so grounded. And her recipes are all simple, accessible, and quick. Think: wraps, soups, and dinners you can cook in one pan.
Piggy-backing on the topic above, I made the Green Soup from the Zinc Nutrition e-book and ate it all week long. One day I added rice, another I had GG crackers with avocado, and one day for lunch I heated up some with turkey and made a green chili. She was kind enough to let me share it with you!
2 – 3 tablespoon coconut oil, olive oil or avocado oil
1 yellow onion, roughly chopped 6 garlic cloves, removed from skin
1 leek, roughly chopped
2 cups broccoli (florets and stalk), roughly chopped
4-5 large kale leaves, roughly chopped
1 small russet potato, roughly chopped
1 package bone broth (chicken or beef) or veggie broth
2 tablespoons spice blend of choice
Sea salt, pepper to taste
Heat desired oil in large pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until translucent, about
3 minutes, then add diced garlic and leek, cook for an additional 3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add potato and bone broth, bring to boil. When potato is fork tender add broccoli for about 3 minutes. Add remaining ingredients. Decrease heat and simmer for 5 – 10 min. Remove from heat and let cool so it’s safe to blend (I used a food processor but any blender works!).
This is one of my favorite coffee shops in LA. Smith & Tait (in West Hollywood, by Fresh Corn Grill!) is owned by two amazing young women (full disclosure, my friend’s Alex and Lauren) who know more about coffee than I know about acting. You won’t get a better cup, it’s an incredibly simple menu, and they don’t charge extra for non-dairy milks! Mega win!
The One Thing– You need this book if you’re anything like me and your lack of focus is almost as bad as your attempts at multitasking. A far cry from an actor, Gary Keller (of Keller Williams real-estate) gives simple task-able steps to calming down, focusing in, and doing better work because of it. I can’t tell you how helpful this has been for me.
YES! A lot of you have been asking me about side-hustles and I have a full article coming out asap, but in the meantime I wanted to let you in on the scoop. Uber as a side-gig. Not only can driving with Uber earn you money, they have fuel and phone discounts and other driver rewards too. I’m not blowing smoke here guys. Driving with Uber is flexible, making it a great option for actors. I was really sold on the perks, including getting paid up to 5x a day with Instant Pay if you have a debit card (who doesn’t??) instead of twice a month…which we all know matters a LOT! Hello rent money. So if this is something you’re considering, click the banner above for more info. I am really excited about this!
