The world feels insane right now. Let’s just call a spade a spade (shit show). When I get this stressed, there are handful of things lean on. Meditation for one. Exercise, although that can get sketchy. And lastly I find joy in organizing my life. Also it’s a new year and this is probably on half of your “2021 Goals” lists. So allow me to help!
PSA: I am constantly finding new systems. Somethings work for a season, some for years, and others last a solid week (hi, Bullet Journaling). But these are things I have used more “on” than “off” in the past few months.
This is the ultimate $7.99 purchase for anyone with a tablet. I use it for note taking, journaling, groceries and meal prep for the week, you name it. I was so tired of having 37 different notebooks all over my house for various reasons, this one for plans, this one with random doodles, etc. Good Notes works best with an Apple Pencil, and I am aware this is a major purchase! But it didn’t work as well with the off brand stylis I had previously. Oh and I also download and make up scripts in it, which is exactly my nerdy brand of fun.
This is a pre-made template for Good Notes I found on Etsy (from Amethyst & Garnet). Sure, you can make your own pages in the app already, but having the planner structure here was exactly what I needed. I use the monthly and daily pages the most. There are TONS of different features I have yet to discover, but for now I keep it really simple. She has so many designs in a range of colors, and for my former Passion Planner crew you can eve get stickers if thats your vibe. The best part is this syncs with the app on my computer and phone so I can pull it up from anywhere. And the best part is I reached out to Kieran who runs the Etsy shop and got us a discount! So if you’re interested in her shop (SO much more than just planners!) you can use the code BROKE10 for 10% off any purchase. Small women run business support?? Hell yes.
This is an unlikely hero, but this cleaning reminder app makes me feel less insane while stuck in my house. It’s super simple. you just create your home “areas” and add the cleaning categories and how often you should get them done. The app lets you know when it’s time to clean a specific area so you never lose track and suddenly realize you’re sleeping on the same sheets as you did over the election. It sounds simple, but taking the chore of remembering to do chores out of the equation is really freakin nice.
This is how I track and task out all my One Broke Actress ideas/content and how I task out all my acting work. There are tons of programs like this (Trello, Monday.com, and AirTable are also similar). Most of them made for companies to work and organize on different projects in teams of coworkers. However I love the deadlines functions and knowing I don’t actually have to do everything all at once (a huge struggle for me personally). There are tons of YouTube Videos showing how to set this up so don’t stress over the buttons and tabs. Also, I have the free version and have never needed more!
There are helpful views on YouTube for all of these actually, so if you’re interested in them I would highly recommend that as a place to start!
For the planner, do you access it on your phone via Goodnotes? I’ve had a Passion Planner for a while, but I bounce back and forth between that and my Google Calendar.
i use my ipad the most!
