Self-tapes can be pretty intimidating in general. What backdrop do you use? What microphone should you get? Do I need a camera? There’s so much that goes into a self-tape, not to mention the acting work that we have to do. My setup has evolved over the past few years and I’ve gone from a white brick wall to a curtain to a backdrop and now, to a painted wall. The main benefits are that there are no wrinkles to deal with and I don’t have to worry about setting up and taking down my backdrop in order to start filming. There’s warm greys, cool greys, neutral greys, glossy, matte, so to help with the process, I tagged in my good friend Anna from Put me On Self-Tape. We already get in our heads so much when an audition comes in, and making it as easy as possible for ourselves when we’re in front of the camera can really make a world of difference. So come along as I level up my self-tape audition game and paint this dang wall!
