Next up in our back to basics series, a question I hear so often. What are the jobs of an agent or a manager? How do they differ? Do I need both? When do I get them?
Casting websites and the proverbial oxygen that keep you alive in this business. I remember basically slamming my head into the hostess stand at my restaurant job trying (and failing) to figure out how in the hell I was supposed to get auditions. This week is king of confusion for a lot of us A-types who need to be working on something since “we already took a few days off!!!” So instead of telling you to just push through, keep resting & finding ways to relax, and if you just can’t stomach another day of cuddling on the couch and eating leftover cookies (which I would also suggest) here is a list of low-key things to occupy the “doing” side of your brain. ⠀
Over and over again I read these iterations of the same fears. Ones I have thought constantly in various levels at different times in the last ten years. And I think they have f*cked me. Why? Because I have made them such a part of me that I let my fears make decisions in my career and in my art.
Especially this year as we have all probably had way less auditions and probably less (maybe zero) bookings…do we still get reps gifts? Did we ever need them? What happens if we’re “the one client” who doesn’t send one?? Don’t worry, I asked them for you so it’s not awkward.
I use this gently cause I know your inbox is sacred (either that or you have 5k unread messages).
